Color Version of Yesterday's Post

                                        ©2008 Deborah Melmon

As promised, here is the colored version of the line drawing from yesterday. I had inked yesterday's sketch on watercolor paper and then painted the squirrels and tree with watercolor.
After scanning in the squirrels, I tweaked them in photoshop and added the background. With everything in layers, it gives me the flexibility to use the image in more than one way.

Happy Thankgiving everyone!

The process of sketching & painting in watercolor paper, to the final background retouch in photoshop is truly remarkable & worth it.

This is beautiful! I can't wait to upgrade my iMac and start painting backgrounds digitally. You have really inspired me! So happy to find a fellow illustrator in the Bay Area. I'm in San Jose. Hope to meet you someday.
